First, there is a need to create the actual training content, using backward course design and ensuring content is learner-centred. This effort is led by IOC-UNESCO in collaboration with the consortium to ensure that the training materials align with the goals of promoting holistic thinking as set out by the BioEcoOcean project. Once the content is created, it will be organised into an online course format, which will be hosted on UNESCO's OceanTeacher Global Academy (OTGA) e-learning platform.
The content of training resources will be structured into separate modules that correspond to each step of the Blueprint’s workflow, and each module will include assessments and exercises to aid in learning. To ensure that the training resources are effective, consortium members will test them and provide feedback based on the outcomes of the six focal living labs.
We will leverage possibility mapping as well as design thinking to encourage co-creation and improve the materials. In line with design thinking, the needs of participants will be first assessed for virtual or in-person workshops. The modular content will then be adapted from the training course on a case-by-case basis to ensure that it meets the specific needs of the participants.
