In October 2024, our project members from the Institute of Oceanology Polish Academy of Sciences, Dr Marta Szczepanek and Assoc. Prof. Monika Kędra took part in the annual autumn meeting of the Pacific Arctic Group (PAG) and the 7th workshop on Distributed Biological Observatory (DBO) that took place in Baltimore MD, USA.
The presentation "In search for the strategy to include the role of benthos in the modelling of organic carbon cycle", given by Marta Szczepanek and co-authored by Monika Kędra and Artur Palacz, is accessible on the BioEcoOcean Zenodo repository: https://zenodo.org/records/14043729
Both PAG and DBO are international research networks focused on coordinated physical-biological observations of the Pacific Arctic. The international coordination of research efforts in this region allows for unique and comprehensive observations of emerging consequences of climate change on the Arctic ecosystem.
Currently, the European Union’s Horizon2020 project Arctic PASSION (https://arcticpassion.eu/) provides capacity for the development of Atlantic-Arctic DBO (https://arcticpassion.eu/adbo/). During the upcoming meeting of Atlantic DBO in December 2024, our researchers will also present the ideas and results of the BioEcoOcean project.
