Advancing biology and ecosystem ocean observations through collaboration and integration

25 February 2026 | 9:00-12:00
Ocean Sciences Meeting 2026, Glasgow, Scotland

How can we better observe and understand marine life across scales and regions? How can collaboration overcome fragmentation and accelerate progress?

This interactive workshop invites the global ocean community to co-create the Blueprint for Integrated Ocean Science. The Blueprint is a practical, open-access, and question-based tool designed to strengthen biological and ecosystem observations, connect initiatives, and guide partnerships, funding strategies, as well as management actions. Built through dialogue across regions and disciplines, the Blueprint avoids a one-size-fits-all model. It will launch in 2027 under the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS), IOC-UNESCO, supporting marine observation, conservation, and global frameworks. Through structured discussions, participants will identify priorities and opportunities to advance marine life observations and shape a tool that supports science, conservation, and policy worldwide.
