The BioEcoOcean Consortium gathered online for its Spring General Assembly.
During the assembly, we reviewed our current progress, identified critical gaps, and established priorities for the coming year. We received valuable updates from our sister projects, ObsSea4Clim and BioGeoSea, and discussed how to improve our alignment across the Horizon Call. We also discussed our FAIR data legacy, the importance of stakeholder engagement and BioEcoOcean communication plans.
On Day 2, we had a presentation on the lessons learned from Gotland BioBlitz, a marine citizen science project, and later we were all introduced to the OCEANIS operational framework (formerly known as the Blueprint). We used it to map where we are in the project now, as well as identified gaps and provoked new ideas for our future work.
On Day 3, we heard plans for all remaining BioEcoOcean deliverables. In addition, we had asked deliverable leads to explain how their specific tasks fit into OCEANIS. This exercise was designed to break down silos and encourage holistic and out-of-the-box thinking required for broader understanding and engagement across the entire non-linear ocean observing system.
