BioEcoOcean team attended the 11th EuroGOOS International Conference

We are delighted to share that the BioEcoOcean team attended the 11th EuroGOOS International Conference held in Larnaca on 18-20 May 2026.

The event, organised every three years by our project partner EuroGOOS, European Global Ocean Observing System, provides a forum for marine scientists and technologists developing operational oceanography products, and for the users of these services, including decision and policy-makers as well as the private sector.

  • Lina Mtwana Nordlund (Uppsala University) took part in the panel discussion: Aligning European Ocean Observation and Marine Knowledge for Climate, Biodiversity and Blue Economy Needs.
  • Florian Lüskow (Uppsala University) gave a talk, "The Fantastic Baltic Four: A field sampling approach for four Biology and Ecosystem Essential Ocean Variables (EOVs) during a session: Triple Planetary Crisis - Monitoring and Understanding the Triple Planetary Crisis and Addressing Societal Needs.

There was also a poster session featured by:

  • Lina Mtwana Nordlund (Uppsala University) showcased a poster on Co-Creating a Blueprint for Integrated Ocean Science: Advancing Ocean Observations for a Sustainable Future.
  • Said Hashim (Uppsala University) showcased a poster on European Perspectives on Biology and Ecosystem Ocean Observing in a Global Context.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity to connect with our colleagues from the sister projects ObsSea4Clim and BioGeoSea. They actively participated in the sessions and discussions, which continued after the conference during the second event, European Maritime Day, held in Limassol on 21-22 May.
