We are excited to share that Dr. Florian Lüskow (Uppsala University) has left the Baltic behind for a month to join an expedition with the Thünen Institute of Fisheries Ecology aboard the Walther Herwig III. Their mission: uncover the secrets of eel reproduction by searching for eggs and larvae in the Sargasso Sea. This research helps scientists better understand the early life stages of the European eel and the ocean processes shaping their journey across the Atlantic. Besides this, Dr. Lüskow is investigating the spatial ecology of the drift alga Sargassum that gave the sea its name.
