The workshop aims to bring together experts in benthic ecology, marine carbon modeling and Arctic research to jointly establish a roadmap for interoperable and comprehensive benthic carbon data products needed to better understand and predict carbon cycling in the Arctic - a region increasingly threatened by climate change and environmental shifts. To this end, the workshop will set the following objectives:
- Discuss current and potential methodologies and needs for utilizing benthic data in environmental models,
- Review and establish clear criteria for developing data products according to the needs of both modellers and observers,
- Recommend guidelines for optimized sampling designs based on the agreed data product requirements.

The workshop is organized by the Horizon Europe BioEcoOcean project in collaboration with the Horizon Europe projects POMP, SEA-Quester and NECCTON.
